Applicants with Foreign High School Education, with European Union nationality

Requirements for Application

Students may apply for admission to a higher education course if they cumulatively meet the following conditions:

  • Have completed, or concluded in the current academic year, a secondary education course;
  • Have taken in the two previous years or be taking in the year in which you apply for, the entrance exams — national examinations of secondary education (homologous to the portuguese national exams) — fixed for the course to which you intend to apply.

These candidates will have to request the equivalence of their foreign secondary education at a public portuguese high school or at DGE Portugal - General-Directorate of Education. Afterwards, while applying to Egas Moniz, candidates have to request the replacement of the portuguese entrance examination through article 20-A.

Medical declaration

The medical declaration, attained by completing the available form, shall prove the absence of any mental, sensory or motor deficiency that seriously interferes with the functional capacity and interpersonal communication to the point of impairing the applicant's own learning or that of others.

The respective result, expressed as Apt or Not Apt, does not influence the calculation of the application score.

Documents needed to apply

  • Official Identification Document;
  • Pre-requisite Group A - Interpersonal Communication (medical declaration);
  • Document issued by the legally competent body of the foreign education system to which the non-Portuguese secondary education qualification relates, indicating: i) The final classification of the course; ii) The marks obtained in the final exams of that course which they wish to replace the entrance exams, the date on which they were taken and the grading scale, indicating the minimum positive and maximum positive marks, in the case of a numerical scale, or indicating the positive scales arranged in descending order of value, in the case of a scale presented in alphabetical scales [dully apostilled with the 1961 Hague Convention Apostille];
  • Document proving the equivalence of the foreign secondary education course to Portuguese secondary education, including the final classification of the course converted to the Portuguese scale of 0 to 200 (please see "Helpful Links" below);
  • Article 20-A of Decree-Law no. 296-A/98, of 25th September - application for substitution of exams;
  • All documentation written in a foreign language other than Portuguese must be accompanied by a translation into this language duly certified by the competent authorities.
