Since May 2025, Egas Moniz has entered a strategic partnership with Greenvolt Comunidades, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, the energy transition, and generating a positive impact on the surrounding community.

This protocol has enabled the creation of a Renewable Energy Community at the institution’s facilities through the installation of a Self-Consumption Production Unit (UPAC), making Egas Moniz a producer of renewable electricity for its own consumption. The surplus energy generated is now shared with organizations and residents within a four-kilometer radius, promoting a decentralized, solidarity-based, and environmentally responsible model for the production and distribution of clean energy.

The initiative has an impact that extends beyond the university campus, positioning Egas Moniz as an active agent of environmental change, aligned with European best practices in sustainability and the principles of institutional social responsibility.

The mission resulted from a partnership between Egas Moniz and Mundo a Sorrir, and its main objectives were to strengthen oral health literacy, conduct an epidemiological survey involving the clinical assessment of approximately 1,200 people across eight of the country's districts, and generate scientific data to support public oral health policies.

Egas Moniz was directly involved in the scientific and academic coordination of the project, as well as in the theoretical and practical training of oral health and dentistry students at the Victor Sá Machado Higher Institute of Health Sciences, through specialized lectures and clinical supervision in real-world settings".

Beyond the direct environmental impact, these actions contribute to raising awareness within both the academic and local communities regarding ecosystem preservation and the adoption of environmentally responsible behaviors.
They also promote animal health solidarity actions, namely vaccination and deworming campaigns for companion animals, often developed in coordination with university clinical structures and local partners. These initiatives have a significant social impact by promoting animal health and well-being, disease prevention, and public health protection, especially among more vulnerable populations.

Students' active participation in these actions reflects an integrated educational approach that recognizes the interconnection between human health, animal health, and the environment, aligned with the principles of sustainability, social responsibility, and active citizenship.
