The experience and quality of the course's speakers/instructors, widely recognized internationally, provide a learning environment with the leading names in the field.

This Postgraduate Program in Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology, following the recommendations of the Association for Dental Education in Europe (ADEE) and the Statement on Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine in the European Dental Curriculum of the Scandinavian Fellowship for Oral Pathology and Oral Medicine, updated to current needs and knowledge, aims to equip students for the diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and medical and surgical treatment of diseases of the oral mucosa, jaws, salivary glands, and perioral region; oral manifestations of systemic diseases and the side effects of their therapies on the oral cavity; the needs and special care of patients with comorbidities; and orofacial pain.

The role of the dentist in the early diagnosis and pre- and post-oncological treatment follow-up of these patients will be particularly important.

To this end, it is intended that postgraduate students acquire theoretical training and supervised clinical practice both at the University Clinic and the Oral Medicine Clinic of the Egas Moniz School of Health and Science, as well as in hospital and private practice settings.

The Postgraduate course will consist of theoretical classes, theoretical-practical classes, hands-on workshops, seminars on medical and surgical treatment, and clinical practice with patients using the Oral Medicine Clinic at the Egas Moniz School of Health & Science. The resident faculty of the Egas Moniz School of Health & Science will also include national and international speakers of recognized and prestigious scientific and pedagogical merit.

To obtain a university degree in Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology, students must pass the continuous assessment and the final theoretical exam. The number of absences may not exceed 15% of the total class hours.
