Yes. An International Student is a student who does not hold Portuguese nationality or the nationality of another Member State of the European Union.
The following are NOT considered International Students:
a) Nationals of a Member State of the European Union;
b) Family members of Portuguese nationals or nationals of a Member State of the European Union, regardless of their own nationality;
c) Individuals who, although not nationals of a member state of the EU and not covered by paragraph (b), have been legally residing in Portugal for more than two consecutive years as of 1 January of the year in which they intend to enter higher education, as well as their children who legally reside with them;
d) Individuals who, on 1 January of the year in which they intend to enter higher education, benefit from a status of equal rights and duties granted under an international treaty concluded between the Portuguese State and the State of which they are nationals;
e) Individuals who apply for admission to higher education through the special access and admission regimes regulated by Decree-Law no. 393-A/99, of 2 October, as amended by Decree-Law no. 272/2009, of 1 October.
For the purposes of paragraph (b), family members are those considered as such under Law no. 37/2006, of 9 August, namely:
a) The spouse of a Union citizen;
b) The partner with whom a Union citizen lives in a legally recognised de facto union, or with whom the Union citizen maintains a duly certified permanent relationship, certified by the competent authority of the Member State of residence;
c) The direct descendant under 21 years of age or who is dependent on a Union citizen, as well as that of the spouse or partner referred to above;
d) The direct ascendant who is dependent on a Union citizen, as well as that of the spouse or partner referred to in paragraph (b).

Each year, the required entrance examinations for application to each Bachelor’s and Integrated Master’s degree are defined.
International applicants must provide documentary evidence demonstrating that they possess knowledge of the subjects corresponding to the entrance examinations established for the relevant study cycle under the general access and admission regime.
Alternatively, applicants may be required to sit entrance examinations at Egas Moniz School of Health & Science. In cases where the minimum required grade has not been achieved or where ENEM was not taken, candidates may still apply to Egas Moniz degree programmes by completing an institutional entrance examination.
The qualifications required for application must be proven through:
A declaration issued by the official education authorities of the country concerned, certifying that the secondary education qualification held grants access to official higher education in that country in degree programmes similar to the one the applicant intends to apply for OR a certificate of equivalence to Portuguese secondary education issued by a competent national authority;
Documentary evidence of knowledge of the subjects corresponding to the entrance examinations established for the degree programme in question.
In the case of Brazilian students, the ENEM (Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio) may be considered for application purposes.

At the time of enrolment, students are required to submit their academic documents duly authenticated by the relevant education authorities (government body) and legalised either through Portuguese consular services or by means of the Hague Convention Apostille.
Brazilian applicants who have completed secondary education (Ensino Médio) and who do not hold Portuguese nationality or the nationality of another Member State of the European Union.
To use the Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio (ENEM) when applying for a Bachelor’s degree at Egas Moniz School of Health & Science, the individual score, or the average corresponding to the required entrance subjects, must be equal to or higher than 475 points on a scale from 0 to 1000.
If the minimum required score has not been achieved or if ENEM has not been taken, you may still apply to Egas Moniz degree programmes by sitting an institutional entrance examination.
Secondary education must be completed before submitting the application.
The adoption of ENEM (Exame Nacional do Ensino Médio) by Egas Moniz School of Health & Science aims to prevent Brazilian students from having to take additional exams to access Portuguese higher education. The use of ENEM scores is not linked to scholarships or any financial aid. Selected students are required to pay the applicable tuition fees in order to enrol in degree programs at Egas Moniz.
