Patrícia Rosado Pinto is a former Pro-Rector of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa and holds a PhD in Educational Sciences. She has an extensive background in education and in the pedagogical training of academic staff, having led faculty development initiatives and served for over twenty years as Director of the Office of Medical Education. In 2024, she was appointed President of the "Conselho Nacional para a Inovação Pedagógica no ensino Superior" (CNIPES). We had the honour of welcoming her as an invited speaker at the 5th Seminar on Pedagogical Innovation, where she addressed educational change, resistance to change and the concept of pedagogical innovation, focusing on the alignment between pedagogical practice and active learning methodologies, as well as on the evaluation of the impact of change through continuous monitoring, in line with the institutional vision of Egas Moniz.
The seminar also featured the participation of Matilde Buisel and Priscila Andrade, representing Apps for Good, an educational programme implemented in Portugal by the Center for Digital Inclusion (CDI Portugal) that promotes active, project-based learning by engaging students and teachers in the design and development of digital applications addressing real-world social and community challenges. By fostering digital, creative and collaborative skills and supporting teachers as facilitators of learning, the presentation offered a valuable opportunity to reflect on possible future collaborations with Egas Moniz in the context of innovative and education practices addressing real-world challenges.
