Guest Speaker: John Hattie

Professor John Hattie, a researcher in education, has been referred to as “possibly the world’s most influential education academic”. His research interests include performance indicators, models of measurement and evaluation of teaching and learning.

John Hattie became known to a wider public with his two books Visible Learning and Visible Learning for teachers, a synthesis of more than 800 meta-studies covering more than 80 million students, first published in 2008.

In 2023, Hattie returned to his ground-breaking Visible Learning project, which has grown to include more than 2,100 meta-analyses, drawn from more than 130,000 studies, and involved more than 400 million students from all around the world.

John Hattie has been Director of the Melbourne Educational Research Institute at the University of Melbourne, Australia, since March 2011. Before, he was Project Director of as TTle and Professor of Education at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. He holds a PhD from the University of Toronto, Canada.
